Understanding H1N1 Risks in the Transportation Sector Train-the-Trainer

Transit trainers and managers wishing to deliver this course to their agency employees who have direct contact with the public.
Description:
Public transit, by its very nature, creates an environment where customers and employees are exposed to a variety of public health challenges. Understanding H1N1 Risks in the Transportation Sector was developed with funding from the United States Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate through the National Transportation Security Center of Excellence to help transit systems better prepare their operations and employees for preventing and managing H1N1 exposure.
Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define basic infectious disease terms and concepts
- Discuss the risks of H1N1 within the transportation sector
- Describe techniques for the prevention and treatment of H1N1
This course is being offered as a train-the-trainer session. Participants preview the course and discuss how they can use thematerials to implement it at their organization. Each participant will receive the following course materials:
- Course slides and notes in a PowerPoint file
- Instructor Guide including Learning Activities and background information for delivering the course
- H1N1 Resource Book containing more information on the H1N1 disease and related topics
- Pandemic Influenza Preparedness, Response and Recovery guidance document for the Mass Transit Sub-sector issued by DHS
- Interim Guidance for Cleaning Transit Stations During an Influenza Pandemic document from the flu.gov website maintained by the US Department of Health and Human Services
- Informational tri-fold employee pamphlet
