Description:
Concerns over urban mobility, limited public financial resources, and the costs of rail transit have prompted many transit agencies to re-examine existing technologies and to embrace creative ways of improving service quality in a cost-effective manner.
This course provides an overview of the FTA document “Characteristics of Bus Rapid Transit for Decision-Making” supplemented with case study analysis and hands on practice in exploring bus rapid transit alternatives.
Topics include: - Characteristics of BRT systems including Running Ways, Stations, and Vehicles
- Fare Collection and other BRT ITS Applications
- Service and Operating Plan Considerations
- System Performance Attributes
- System Benefits
- Project Development Strategies
Fee:
Tuition shall be waived for federal, state and local government employees who work in transportation or related areas.
