Management of Transit Construction Projects
Length:
3.0 Days
Audience:
Managers, planners, and engineers involved in all phases of the management and control of FTA-funded projects. This includes grantee department or division managers responsible for major and non-major capital project development encompassing the planning, design, construction, and post-construction phases; directors of grantee consultant teams participating in the management of a major project; and managers of FTA Project Management Oversight (PMO) consultants. FTA grantees are responsible for managing and directing federally-funded projects.
Description:
Organizations and programs must be ready to address the specific needs of each grantee and each project. The federal transit laws require a grant applicant for a major capital investment project to prepare and carry out a Project Management Plan (PMP) approved by the FTA. This course addresses the basics of good project management for transit projects, with specific emphasis on the requirements that are presented in the report, Project and Construction Management Guidelines 2003 Update. The 2003 guidelines reflect many changes in national policies, and project and construction management involves many new techniques and approaches. This course uses the guidelines to teach the process of good project management to grantees with major capital projects who are required to implement Project Management Plans, as well as grantees with smaller capital projects.Topics: - Purpose of Project Management Planning
